Tarangire National Park is a scenic wildlife destination in northern Tanzania, located about 118 km from Arusha. Covering 2,850 square kilometers, it is the sixth-largest park in the country.

The park is best known for its massive elephant herds, with groups of up to 300 elephants frequently spotted. It is also home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and buffalo. During the dry season, wildlife gathers around the Tarangire River, making it an excellent spot for game viewing.

For bird lovers, Tarangire offers over 550 bird species, including unique species like the yellow-collared lovebird and Tanzanian red-billed hornbill. The wet season brings an influx of migratory birds, making it a top birdwatching destination.

Unlike the busier Serengeti and Ngorongoro, Tarangire remains less crowded, providing a more peaceful and intimate safari experience.
